  • Challenge Descriptions:

  • Bio Bowl: To solve a set of challenging, non-routine problems focused on biology in a Jeopardy style team format

    Biomedical Engineering: To design and build an original prosthetic arm to grab, lift and pour a 50 ml graduated cylinder filled with 50 ml of sand into a standard coffee mug.

    Bridge Building: To design and build a bridge that can withstand the maximum load.

    Impromptu Challenge 1: To work together as a team to solve an impromptu problem. Instructions will be given out at the event.

    Math Quest: To solve exciting and complex mathematical problems in a head to head style quiz format.

    Paper Towers: To construct a free-standing tower of maximum height using a single sheet of paper.

    Solar Water Still: To design a passive solar still capable of purifying water through the natural process of evaporation and condensation.

    Video/Internet: To design and present a short promotional video promoting your MESA School Spirit via your MESA program.

    Wind Energy:  (national competition) To design a windmill device that competes in tasks related to mechanical power; wind to vehicle transfer; and electrical power and wind response.  Winners will go on to compete in the national MESA USA competition.  15+ judges are needed for this competition
