Thank you for your interest in having the parish community of the Cathedral of Saint Paul be a part of your child/ren’s religious education. Please read through the following carefully, in its entirety, before beginning the registration process.
REGISTRATION
Registration for children’s catechesis at the Cathedral for the 2014-2015 program year will be done online. If you have no internet access, please contact Patrick Conley (phone; email) to complete the registration process for your child/ren.
Families registered as full members (parishioners) of the Cathedral are given first priority for the Cathedral’s religious education programs. If there are remaining spots available, they will be made available to non-parishioners. (Cathedral Associates and Friends are considered non-parishioners.) Non-parishioners wishing to be put on a waiting list should register their children at their earliest convenience, as registration date will be one factor in determining place on the waiting list. (Note: non-parishioner families who have older children in the Cathedral Choir School are welcome to register for the Wednesday afternoon Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Level 1.)
In addition to demographic information, you will need to have your child/ren’s sacramental information ready, as appropriate (date and place of reception of Baptism, First Reconciliation, and/or First Communion).
Please note that your child/ren’s registration is not complete until you have been contacted by the Cathedral with a confirmation of your child/ren’s registration and an invoice for the appropriate fees.

THE ROLE OF PARENTS
The Catechism of the Catholic Church states,
The Christian home is the place where children receive the first proclamation of the faith. For this reason the family home is rightly called "the domestic church," a community of grace and prayer, a school of human virtues and of Christian charity. (§ 1666)
The Cathedral parish does not wish to usurp the parents’ rights or responsibilities in educating their children in the faith, but we hope to work alongside parents in raising faith-filled children dedicated to Christ and his Church. If you are looking for ideas of how to carry on your child/ren’s religious education at home, please talk with one of our children’s catechists or contact Meggie Langlois (mlanglois@cathedralsaintpaul.org; 651.746.9436), Sister Bernadine Frischmon (srbosb@mail.com; 651.207.5225), or Patrick Conley (pconley@cathedralsaintpaul.org; 651.357.1340).
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION: In compliance with Archdiocesan guidelines, the Cathedral only offers sacramental preparation (First Communion/Confirmation) for its own registered, full parishioners. We encourage all families of other parishes to pursue sacramental preparation in their home parish.
OUR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAMS
The Cathedral is blessed to be able to offer the two programs listed below.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (age 3 – grade 2)
Coordinator: Meggie Langlois (mlanglois@cathedralsaintpaul.org; 651.746.9436)

The Cathedral of Saint Paul offers Level 1 (ages 3-6) and Level 2 (school grades 1-2, including preparation to receive First Communion for those children who have attended Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in previous years). Catechesis of the Good Shepherd meets in the Cathedral’s lower level as per the following table:

Please note that First Communion prep through Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is only for those children who have been part of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in previous years. If your second grader has not previously been part of religious education at the Cathedral, please register that child for First Communion preparation in the Faith and Life program (below).
Faith and Life (grades 2-10)
Coordinator: Sister Bernadine Frischmon (srbosb@mail.com; 651.207.5225)
Faith and Life is a strong curriculum of catechesis based on reading, discussion, question-and-answer and activities. The Cathedral of Saint Paul offers school grade-appropriate classes for grades 2 (including First Communion prep) through 10 (including Confirmation prep).
REGISTRATION DEADLINE is Friday, August 15, 2014 (Solemnity of the Assumption).
Thank you once again for your dedication to passing the Catholic faith on to your children. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about children’s catechesis at the Cathedral, please contact Patrick Conley, Director of Faith Formation (phone; email).
