The Office of the Provost is pleased to announce the FY15 Faculty Travel Program which supports out-of-town faculty travel to disseminate the results of research, creative activities or other scholarly endeavors develop new funding opportunities. A total of $50,000 is available for FY15.
The program is available to tenured and tenure track faculty and funded from Indirect Cost Returns generated from external grants awarded to CCNY faculty. Faculty Travel awards are not designed to fund 100% of the expenses but rather to assist by defraying a significant portion of the travel costs. Faculty are always encouraged to explore other mechanisms to fund their trips.
Types of Travel Supported
Three types of trips are supported, each with separate funding levels and eligibility requirements. Domestic travel is defined as travel to any of the 50 states, U.S. Territories and Commonwealths, Canada or Mexico. International travel is defined as travel to any country other than those listed above.
1. Domestic Funding Opportunity Travel
Awards will support faculty travel to develop new funding opportunities. These trips will typically involve meeting with funding program managers when a "virtual" meeting is inadequate. If more than one faculty member requests support for the same meeting, each must justify his or her participation. Travelers are encouraged to visit multiple agencies or program managers in the same trip, especially when traveling to Washington, DC.
Faculty are eligible for support for one trip in the most current fiscal-year period. Faculty Travel awards will reimburse up to a maximum of $500 for domestic funding opportunity travel. This support may be used for economy class transportation and receipted meal costs not provided by other sources of support.
2. Domestic Conference Travel
Awards will support faculty travel to disseminate the results of research, creative activities or other significant scholarly endeavors. These trips will typically involve delivering a presentation or exhibition before an audience of peers or broader community.
Faculty are eligible for support for one trip in the most current two-fiscal-year period. Faculty Travel awards will reimburse up to a maximum of $1,000 for domestic conference travel. This support may be used for registration, economy transportation, lodging, and receipted meal costs not provided by other sources of support.
3. International Conference Travel
Awards will support faculty travel to disseminate the results of research, creative activities or other significant scholarly endeavors. These trips will typically involve delivering a presentation or exhibition before an audience of peers or broader community. An "international conference" would normally be held abroad with participants from multiple countries, rather than as a national meeting held abroad.
Faculty are eligible for support for one trip in the most current three-fiscal-year period. Faculty Travel awards will reimburse up to $2,000 for international conference travel. This support may be used for registration, economy transportation, lodging, and receipted meal costs not provided by other sources of support.
