  • This agreement made and entered into on the above date relates to the following rescue Basset Hound and undersigned Adopting Person(s).

  • Please review the below text.  In each box, please initial that you have read and agree with the statement.  Any issues or disagreements should be directed to BHRA leadership before any adoption takes place.

  • The parties agree and covenant as follows:

    1. Adopting person(s) agree(s) that the rescue dog will be a house pet and will receive all care and attention necessary to ensure its health and well-being. Adopting person(s) will provide adequate food, fresh water, shelter, exercise, veterinary care, heart worm prevention (and maintenance) and yearly inoculations as recommended by attending veterinarian, and license said dog in accordance with state and local laws.  BHRA will cease providing medical care for dog as of the date noted on this agreement.

    2. Adopting person(s) will not permit the dog to run free or off-leash or out of immediate control. When outside, the dog will NEVER be staked out, tied out with a rope, cord, strap, chain or any other similar device or attached to any overhead suspended retention device.

    3. Prior to this adoption the Adopting person(s) will provide fencing around any swimming pool to prevent the dog's entry into any pool area. Adopting person(s) will NOT transport the dog in an open pickup truck bed or boat.

  • The parties agree and covenant as follows:

     

    4. Adopting person(s) will provide indoor sleeping quarters for the dog. Adopting person(s) agree(s) that the dog will, at all times, wear a buckle collar with current Rabies tag and understands the dog has been microchipped.

    5. Adopting person(s) agree(s) to telephone Basset Rescue Of Alabama, Inc. immediately if the rescue dog becomes lost or is stolen. Adopting person(s) will notify Basset Hound Rescue of Alabama, Inc. at least ONE WEEK prior to any change of address.

    6. Adopting person(s) will keep the rescue Basset Hound for so long as it shall live and will not transfer the ownership to any other person without first obtaining the written consent of Basset Hound Rescue Of Alabama, Inc. The Rescue dog may not be transferred to any other person, firm, corporation or organization for any reason. Adopting person(s) agree to follow-up visits subsequent to placement by members of Basset Hound Rescue of Alabama, Inc., to assure compliance with the terms herein set forth and to confirm the best interests of the animal are being served. Adopting person(s) further agree that should such follow up visits result in a deficiency or a finding that the best interests of the animal are not being served, that Basset Hound Rescue of Alabama, Inc. has the right to repossess such animal without question.

    6b. If custody of the Rescue dog must be relinquished, Adopting person(s) agree(s) to notify Basset Hound Rescue Of Alabama, Inc. IMMEDIATELY to arrange for its re-adoption. Out of state adoptions/residents are expected to assist with transport to BHRA volunteer.  The rescue dog will not be transferred to any other person, agency, firm, corporation, or organization without first obtaining written consent of Basset Hound Rescue of Alabama, Inc.

    7. The terms and conditions found herein are contractually binding. Should Basset Hound Rescue of Alabama, Inc., be required to seek judicial redress for breach the breaching party shall be responsible for all costs, fees, expenses and fines imposed for seeking such redress.

  • The parties agree and covenant as follows:

    8. The adopting person further understands, agrees, promises and covenants as follows:

    (a) adopting person will immediately start the animal on a veterinary approved heart worm preventative and keep such animal on that or some other vet-approved preventative for the rest of the animal’s life;

    (b) that BHRA, Inc., may do follow up visits, either with or without notice within one (1) year after the adoption and thereafter with notice;

    (c) BHRA may at any time repossess the animal without repayment of the adoption fee if at any time it is discovered that any of the terms or conditions agreed to herein are breached; and,

    (d) should such animal be repossessed for any reason and such animal be in need of medical care due to the negligence, inattention, cruelty, or intentional acts of the adopting person that person shall be solely and exclusively responsible for the costs of all such medical care.

    9. Basset Hound Rescue of Alabama, Inc. will provide copies of all processed medical records of each adopted dog within 14 days of adoption.  BHRA requires that all adopted dogs be established with a veterinarian within 16 days of the receipt of these records, or 30 days from adoption. If this occurs, we ask that you scan and email a copy of the vet records to medical@bhral.org.  BHRA, in response, will provide you with a 15% credit to BHRA merchandise from the BHRA Boutique.

    10. BHRA provides access to 24PetWatch Insurance.  This is an optional program that BHRA provides free of charge as part of our microchip registration.  The adopter can chose to be contacted by 24PetWatch by typing their dog’s name into the below box.  Choosing to not accept does not alter the adoption process. BHRA will provide your information to 24PetWatch and they will be contacting you within 7-10 days.

  • The parties agree and covenant as follows:

    11. Adopting person(s) understands that a minimum donation $275.00 is collected for each dog adopted between approximately 2 and 8 years of age; $175.00 for any dog over 8 years; $325.00 for any dog from 6 weeks to 2 years of age. Adopting person(s) further agree and understand that such donation is non-refundable except in extraordinary circumstances as determined by BHRA.

    12. The Adopting Person(s) take(s) the Rescue dog as is, with all defects either observable or unobservable, and assume(s) full risk for the dog from the date of signing of this agreement. Though care is given to physical condition and temperament evaluation of each Basset Hound that is accepted into Rescue Of Alabama, Inc., and every possible effort is made to provide a Rescue dog which is compatible with the Adopter's home, no warranty is made as to the physical condition or temperament of this dog.

    13. As of the date of this agreement, the Adopting person(s) assume(s) responsibility for the dog's actions and shall hold Basset Hound Rescue Of Alabama, Inc. and its individual members FREE from all claims for personal injury, injury to others, and/or property damage associated with this adoption and agrees to indemnify, defend and hold Basset Hound Rescue of Alabama, Inc. harmless from any and all claims, causes, causes of action, suits or injuries at any time occurring from the rescue animal. The Adopting person(s) take this rescue dog AS IS, WHERE IS with all defects either observable or unobservable, and assumes full risk and liability for the dog from the date of the signing of this agreement. Adopting person(s) understand and accept that all animals can, will and do bite or snap if provoked or agitated and accepts this dog with full knowledge thereof. In the event of a controversy arising by, among or between the Adopting person(s) and BHRA the parties agree that any such dispute or suit shall be controlled by the procedural and substantive laws of the State of Alabama. Adopting person has the right to have the animal examined by a veterinarian of their choice prior to adoption but adopting the animal without such an examination constitutes a waiver of that right. Though care is given to the physical condition and temperament evaluation of each Basset Hound that is accepted into the Rescue Service, and every possible effort is made to provide a rescue dog that is compatible with the Adopter’s home, no warranty is made as to the condition or temperament of this dog. All dogs are spayed/neutered, inoculated, treated for intestinal parasites, are heartworm negative (or on treatment for a positive condition) and are currently on heartworm preventative. Adopting person(s) has been given the chance to review and read this document prior to signing.

  • All adoption fees are based on estimated ages by a veterinarian at the time of intake.  Agreement and Fee must be accounted for before the dog is delivered to the applicant.  Payment of fees can be made by credit card using the form below or by Paypal by sending the funds to treasurer@bhral.org.  The treasurer must approve other options prior to the adoption.

    If you have special circumstances at the time of adoption (bonded pair, discount on the dog, etc.), please contact the adoption coordinator for clarification.
