  • Foster Policies (Please read before completing the application)

    The following policies are required to foster for Saving Grace Animal Rescue of Maryland. If you have any questions/concerns, please contact Lauren at lauren@savinggraceanimalrescuemd.com

     

    • The owner/lessee of the home must complete the application and all adults in the home
      must provide their information.
    • You must be at least 21 years old to foster dogs, and 18 years old to foster cats
    • We will conduct background checks, no exceptions!
    • We will conduct home checks for all potential dog fosters; no exceptions!
    • You must commit to foster the dog/cat until it is adopted.
    • You must be prepared to bring your foster dog/cat to adoption events, or make arrangements for another SGAR volunteer to bring them.
    • You must be prepared to take your foster dog/cat to one of our approved vets when needed.
    • All veterinary expenses approved by SGAR will be paid for by the rescue. All vet expenses must be approved by a board member prior to treatment. Unapproved veterinary expenses are the responsibility of the foster.
    • Food, toys, litter, leashes, etc, are the responsibilty of the foster. However, SGAR will assist when donations allow.

  • Please list 3 personal references with email addresses.  Your references may not be members of your household.  At least 2 references must be non-family members


  • *If you rent, you must show us a written letter from your landlord or a copy of the section of your lease stating that you are allowed to have dogs/cats and showing any limitations.

    If you live in a condo or townhome, you must show us written proof that you are allowed to have a dog/cat there and show any restrictions.

    You will be contacted shortly to acknowledge the receipt of your application and to discuss further steps in the foster process.  Please be aware that we are all volunteers and work full-time, but will endeavor to respond to you as soon as possible.  Once your Foster Application has been approved you will be contacted to arrange a home visit.  The home visit will assess the safety and suitability of the environment for the pet. The home visit is also the opportunity to see if the pet will be a good fit for your family and any existing pets.


    Please be aware that Saving Grace Animal Rescue of MD reserves the right to deny an application at any stage of the process without explanation.
