Completing this application is a step in the process to acquiring a puppy from Oklahoma Standard Poodles, but it does not guarantee I'll get a puppy from this or any future litter. While it's unlikely, the breeder reserves the right to refuse any placement at any time.
If this application is approved, you'll receive a link to make a deposit on a puppy when puppies are available. Please make this deposit within 48 hours of the approval e-mail. Please note our deposit policy has changed a bit: if you make a deposit, you are committing to take a puppy from the litter, regardless of whether your gender/color preference is available. Should you elect to not take a puppy from the litter, the deposit is forfeited. We do the best to match preferences. You should review both the deposit policies and pick of litter policies on our website for any updates.
Puppies will be picked by their new families in person at our home when the puppies are approximately four (4) weeks of age. Puppies will go to their new homes at 49 days of age (7 weeks). We cannot hold puppies for extended times; it is critical for their social development that the litter departs within a reasonable timeframe.
We have a contract and will not place a puppy without a signed contract. We believe it's the professional thing to do to memorialize our obligations to each other on paper so there are no questions later, and for that reason it's a bit lengthy. If you have questions about specific terms, you need to contact us prior to picking up your puppy.
We require spay/neuter at or before 18 months. If you're a breeder you should probably look elsewhere. This might seem hypocritical at first glance, but we have a take-back provision in our contract. Any puppy from our home always has a home here, and will never be at a shelter. Taking back an unaltered dog into our home poses significant risk to our own dogs due to canine STDs and the possiblity an unaltered dog could be pregnant. Sadly, many well-intentioned folks don't remember to spay before the first heat cycle, and suddenly their barely-adolescent dog is pregnant by multiple studs of unknown heritage. Spay surgery while pregnant is exceedingly risky, and several canine STDs such as brucellosis can be transferred to humans, which poses an unacceptable risk to our family.
Our excellent family companions do not come with registration papers to any registry. Please read more on our website here. However, you are free to register for events and competitions with whatever registry body you choose.
