Thank you for completing this application!

We hand-raise all of our puppies in our home with love and care, and we hope you will love your puppy, too.

Every family is different, and there are no right or wrong answers. We know many families have two working adults and we don't expect anyone to be a superhero just to be able to take home a puppy. Every puppy family has different needs, and this application helps us identify who needs what information and what homes might make the best fit for our puppies.

If you're a veteran owner, we don't want to waste your time regaling things you already know; by the same token, if this is your first puppy or the first time you have considered this breed we want to make sure you leave prepared for what life with a puppy may bring.

    So again, thank you!

    • Pricing and Deposits
    • How much are your puppies?*

We diligently monitor market rates among our benchmarks and peers and adjusting prices accordingly.  Rarely will the prices ever go down, but we do honor the price which was listed when you make your application.  Some people tell us our prices are outside of their budgets, and we respect that.

We want to remind our applicants that we are A RESPONSIBLE PRESERVATION KENNEL and the price is reflective of this.  You may spend more up front.  What we are offering is quality production, not quantity production.

Our puppies are produced from health tested parents with known pedigrees, ancestries and medical histories.  Cheaper "budget" puppies typically are commercially produced or come from breeders who cut corners on health testing; or you may be getting a rescue (which often times originated from commercial facilities) with other unknown behavioral risks that will likely present a lifetime of medical ailments or training problems.

Breeding for purpose is not cheap to do, and our time is valuable, too.  The "Cost of Raising a Responsibly Bred Litter of Puppies" was valued up to $15,828 in 2015.  Adjusted for infliation to 2023 values, this equals $20,348.  This cost estimate did not account for the breeder's time and labor including time off from regular employment to raise a well-socialized litter of puppies, post-natal care for the dam, or the costs of supplies and toys for puppies after the second week of life.

Each puppy comes into the world and we believe it is our duty to give it the best life during its first weeks, so that it may have its best life with you.  Therefore, when you acquire a puppy from Die Nassen Bärte, you are not just buying a dog -- you are buying our labor, our love, four legged pieces of our heart, and all of the expertise and value added that goes into raising a litter of puppies in the home.

Our prices are benchmarked and are non-negotiable.

                Miniature Schnauzers:                     $3500†

                Standard Schnauzers:                     $3500†

                Giant Schnauzers:                          $4000 †

                German Wirehaired Pointers:           $4000

                Affenpinschers:                              $5000

Older Adults sometimes available starting at $2000.

Die Nassen Bärte is world renown as an American breeder of AKC Champion Schnauzers and Affenpinschers.  We are one of the few reputable dock-neutral breeders in the United States. We will sometimes dock entire litters or not dock at all.  We do accept requests for dock preferences.

†We are no longer cropping ears.  We will leave tails undocked upon request, and sometimes leave entire litters undocked on a whim.

After applying the process is as follows:

      1.  We review your applications once we know that we have a pregnancy and a litter is on the way.

      2.  Approved applicants are contacted to re-confirm interest.  We understand that some applicants will have found another breeder to work with by the time we have puppies coming.

      3.  Applicants that wish to be moved to the waitlist can place an initial deposit of $500 if the litter is NOT yet born. The initial deposit is refundable in the event that something doesn't work out on our end (e.g. failure to conceive, etc.)

      4.  A non-refundable deposit totaling 50% of the purchase price is required to reserve a puppy in a litter 2-weeks of age or older.  If this deposit is not paid, we will move on to the next family on the wait list and you will lose your spot in line.

      5.  Non-refundable deposits can be credited towards a puppy in a future litter if you need to change your mind for any reaons.

      6.  The remaining balance, or 100% of the purchase price is due a minimum of 3 business days before delivery when paying by electronic transfer; or cash is payable at pickup.  Sorry, we do not accept personal checks.

      7.  The breeder's job is to ensure that each puppy is placed in its forever home.  We match the puppy to you based on your answers to the questions in the application and what you tell us about your lifestyle and what you are looking for in a puppy.  We won't place the shyest puppy with the most extroverted family, nor will we place the most dominant puppy with an inexperienced family.  We do this by careful and intentional observation of behaviors over the puppies' growth and development during their first 8 weeks of life and via evaluation and temperament testing.

We do not do payment plans or financing!
