Barnside Veterinary Hospital
Boarding Health and Vaccination Requirements
Clientele and Health Requirements
All guests must be patients of Barnside Veterinary Hospital. This is a service for our clients and their pets who may require a little more attention than a kennel can offer.
All new pets who are to be boarded must be examined by Barnside Veterinary Hospital veterinarian prior to boarding. If there are no outstanding medical problems or vaccines due, this exam is performed gratis. If your pet has any medical conditions that you would like the doctor to address or if your pet needs to be updated on any of the required vaccines then the regular exam fee will be charged.
Any pet who has previously boarded at Barnside, but who has not been seen by a Barnside veterinarian within the past year, will require a comprehensive physical exam. There IS a charge for this exam.
All clients must provide proof that their pet is up-to-date on the following vaccines:
Feline Distemper (FVRCP)
Distemper/Parvo and Leptospirosis (DHLPP)
Kennel Cough (Bordetella)
Canine Influenza H3N2/H3N8
DHLPP, FVRCP, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza vaccines MUST have been administered by a licensed veterinarian within the 12-month period prior to boarding. The Rabies vaccine must have been administered within the 36-month period prior to boarding.
** Vaccine titres are not acceptable in lieu of vaccines **
It is the client's responsibility to make sure that their pet's vaccines are up-to-date through the boarding dates. You can check your pet's vaccine status anytime through your Petly Pet Portal account.
Vaccines need time to take effect. If your pet is overdue, the Rabies and Distemper/Parvo vaccines must be administered at least 2 weeks before boarding. The Bordetella vaccine must be given 2 weeks prior [if given SQ (injection)] or 2 days (if given Intranasal or Oral).
