• Healthy Living with Diabetes Workshop

  • Healthy Living with Diabetes workshops meet for 2 hours once a week for six weeks. This workshop is very interactive, where participants give support to each other and build confidence to manage their diabetes and maintain active and fulfilling lives.  It is facilitated by two trained leaders in a small group setting, and most of the learning comes from the idea that we are each an expert in how we manage our diabetes and have a lot to share. 

    Who should take it?  Workshops are best for anyone who:

    Has, or lives with someone who has, diabetes or pre-diabetes

  • Topics we talk about:

    • Monitoring blood sugars
    • Healthy eating and nutrition: food label reading and meal planning
    • Relaxation Techniques
    • Fitness for exercise and fun!
    • Preventing high and low blood sugars
    • Preventing or delaying complications
    • Stress and depression management

    Healthy Living with Diabetes does not replace existing treatments, but serves to complement a participant’s current medical treatment plan

  • There is a text book that is part of the workshop and it will be available to use at each class.

    Healthy Living with Diabetes workshops are scheduled every year.
