Any Mortar Board member may nominate a member for these awards. Consolidated nomination efforts are welcomed as these will undoubtedly provide more information about the nominee.
As many as three recipients may be selected in each category.
Selection committee recommendations are referred to the National Council for final decision and selection. Award recipients will be informed of their selection and invited to attend the Mortar Board National Conference to accept their awards.
Mortar Board will not withdraw the honor of the award from an award recipient who cannot be present at the national conference, but the award will not be presented in absentia. The exception is the Distinguished Lifetime Membership, whose recipient, if unable to attend, may send a representative in her/his place at personal expense. Only in a rare circumstance may an award be presented posthumously.
A recipient may not receive the same award more than once. Current members of the National Council, section coordinators, and trustees are ineligible.
Nominations are accepted throughout the academic year, but a cutoff for the next national conference is November 15. Upon confirmation of the nomination the application packet will be sent. The completed application is due on or before December 15.
